Zhang Xiaogang

Born in Kunming, China

1982

Graduated from the Oil Painting Department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts

Known as a symbolist-surrealist and a member of the Avant Garde movement, worldwide art historians noted that Zhang was influenced by Picasso and Dali.  He now works and lives in Beijing

1982

Participated in the BBC World Painting Contest held in the UK

1985

Participated in three group exhibitions held in Beijing (Youth on the Advance), Shanghai and Nanjing (Exhibition of Neo-realistic paintings), and in Florida, U.S.A. (Mirage of China)

1987

Participated in the group exhibition Four Chinese Painters held in Montpellier, France

1989

First solo exhibition at the Gallery of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, Chongqing.

Participated in the China Avant Garde exhibition at the National Art Gallery, Beijing
